Client: Private
Location: Normanton-on-the-Wolds.
We are delighted to announce that planning approval has been granted for a bespoke contemporary dwelling in Normanton-on-the-Wolds, Nottinghamshire. The scheme was granted planning permission under delegated powers in June 2017.
The project involves the demolition of an existing dwelling with a replacement four bedroom dwelling. The new dwelling occupies a spectacular plot with mature landscaping that will be retained and added to as part of the new scheme.
The plot lies within a conservation area and we worked closely with the planning and conservation officer to arrive at a design that would enhance the existing site and the neighbouring historical context of the conservation area.
The existing dwelling was unusually tall in relation to the existing street scene and presented a fairly blank roof slope elevation to the neighbouring properties along Old Melton Road.
The concept was to create a modern and striking replacement dwelling whilst keeping the overall height and massing to a minimum so that the design would harmonise with the street scene.
The new dwelling takes advantages of the site topography and includes an internal change of level with a step down into the open plan kitchen, living, dining area. This space opens out onto a large terrace with a sunken seating area that will overlook the mature landscaped gardens.
The project will embrace modern methods of construction and we are proposing to utilise a completely off-site factory produced timber frame. This approach will improve the sustainability credentials of the project with a super air tight and insulated superstructure.
The project is now under construction. Watch this space for on site updates!
